Position Summary Guards, patrols, or monitors premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules. Responsibilities Patrol industrial and commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensures security of doors, windows, and gates. Answers alarms and investigates disturbances. Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences. Calls police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons. Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property. Checks all vehicles and donation center doors, lift gates and roll-up doors to determine they are locked and secured. Notifies management immediately if any illegal activity is conducted during business hours. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property to management immediately. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed. Qualifications Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Experience: 6 months to 1 year experience preferred. Computer Skills: Knowledge of MS Office, e-mail and internet preferred. Certificates & Licenses: Guard Card issued by State of California and Valid Driver’s License. Proof of Insurance and Driving record acceptable by Goodwill’s Insurance Company. Schedule: 5 days per week, which may include weekends and evenings. Amount of Travel Required: 50% to 75%
