Maintenance Engineer

An engineering firm in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to provide technical expertise on design and construction projects. You will prepare calculations and simulations, produce detailed designs and specifications, review contractor submissions, and conduct site inspections. Professional registration or active progress towards it is expected.

Responsibilities Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify construction or installation work complies with designs and quality specifications. Monitor and control project budgets, schedules, and resources, identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures. Conduct technical analyses including stress analysis, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and structural integrity using industry-standard software. Manage engineering projects from feasibility through detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. Mentor and supervise junior engineers, technicians, and graduate trainees, providing technical and professional development guidance. Liaise with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated. Ensure all engineering work complies with relevant standards, codes of practice, health and safety regulations, and environmental legislation.

Requirements Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating across engineering disciplines for integrated project outcomes. Effective written and verbal communication skills to produce clear technical reports and present to varied audiences. Proficiency in engineering design and analysis software relevant to the discipline such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, or MATLAB. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to apply engineering first principles to complex technical challenges. Strong project management skills including scheduling, cost estimation, and contract administration. A bachelor's degree in engineering in the relevant discipline from a university accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa. Professional registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng, or candidate registration actively working towards professional registration.
