About this role
Our client, a courier service in Brits, North West, is looking for a Delivery Driver to handle time-sensitive deliveries within the metro area. You will use a company vehicle and must have excellent local area knowledge to navigate efficiently. A smart appearance and professional demeanour are important as you represent the company daily.
Responsibilities Load and unload goods safely, ensuring cargo is properly secured and protected against damage during transit using straps and restraints. Operate assigned vehicles safely and responsibly in compliance with all road traffic laws, company policies, and client delivery instructions. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, checking tyres, lights, brakes, fluid levels, and safety equipment before every journey. Provide polite and professional service to customers at delivery and collection points, representing the company positively in all interactions. Adhere strictly to company policies regarding mobile phone use while driving and comply with regulations governing driver working hours and rest periods. Plan and follow the most efficient delivery routes using GPS navigation and local knowledge to minimise fuel consumption and ensure on-time deliveries. Complete all delivery documentation accurately including waybills, delivery notes, and proof of delivery receipts for office processing.
Requirements A valid Professional Driving Permit for roles involving passenger transport or dangerous goods as required by legislation. Strong time management skills with ability to plan routes and deliveries to meet tight deadlines and customer time windows. Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and describe vehicle faults accurately when reporting issues to maintenance. A valid Code 10, Code 14, or equivalent driving licence appropriate to the vehicle class being operated. Physical fitness to handle loading and unloading cargo, including the ability to lift heavy items when required. Good knowledge of road networks and geography within the {province} region, with ability to navigate efficiently.
