Retail Security Guard

We have an opening for a Retail Security Guard in a 24-hour control room in Paarl, Western Cape. You will monitor alarms and CCTV feeds from multiple sites, dispatch armed response units, log all incidents accurately, and maintain communication with clients and field personnel. Strong computer literacy and a calm disposition are required.

Responsibilities Conduct searches of personnel, vehicles, and bags entering or leaving the premises to prevent unauthorised removal of property. Monitor CCTV camera feeds in real time from a control room, identifying and responding to any unusual or suspicious activity. Perform regular checks of security equipment including alarms, cameras, radios, and access control systems to ensure functionality. Provide excellent customer service to clients, tenants, and visitors while maintaining a firm and professional security presence. Conduct regular patrols of the assigned premises on foot or by vehicle, checking for security breaches, hazards, and suspicious activity. Control access to buildings and sites by verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining an accurate access register.

Requirements For armed response roles, a valid firearm competency certificate and experience in handling firearms safely. A minimum of one to two years of experience in the security industry with a proven track record of reliability. A valid PSIRA registration at the appropriate grade level for the position being applied for. Good written and verbal communication skills to write reports and interact professionally with clients and the public. Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions. A clear criminal record is mandatory and subject to regular review as per PSIRA requirements. A valid driver's licence is required for armed response and patrol positions.
