JOB OVERVIEW: This position supervises the Security Officer team and may work different shifts as needed. This position will assist the Security Manager with access control, CCTV, radio dispatch, customer service and other duties as assigned. This includes ensuring the appropriate staffing coverage and training of Security Officers. DEPARTMENT: Hospital Campus WORK HOURS: Varies (40 Hour Week) REPORTS TO: Security Manager PREREQUISITES: Associates Degree or relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement. Minimum four years of private security experience required, preferably with a minimum of two years in a hospital environment. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Valid Washington State driver’s license and ability to be insured by company's carrier, required. No convictions of any crime other than misdemeanor traffic violations. Current American Heart Association BLS or obtain within 90 days of hire. Able to obtaining proper security licensing through the State of Washington. QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills with a diverse population. Strong ability to multitask and carry out assignments independently. Excellent customer service, organizational, and time management skills. Strong communication skills using a variety of methods. Demonstrates close attention to detail. Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality. UNIQUE PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS: On an occasional basis must be able to provide safe patient handling as defined in Safe Patient Handling guidelines and policies to safely and appropriately transfer patients (or objects) of varying abilities, weights and amounts of staff assistance. Must be able to stand or sit for extended amounts of time. Requires the ability to stoop, bend, reach, crouch, and squat. Requires full body range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to walk from one end of the campus to the other and climb stairwells. Vision and hearing must be within normal range, including good depth perception and ability to distinguish colors. Must be flexible and able to work a variety of hours as needed Ability to drive to other locations as needed. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Responsibilities and Competencies Responsible for following and applying the policies and procedures as defined in the Standard Operations Guidelines (SOG), Post Orders and/or the employee handbook Must be available to work rotating shifts, respond to on-call emergencies, work overtime, and be available to work weekends and holidays. Responsible for supervising and directing the daily duties of Security Officer Staff. Maintains the daily shift schedule for all Security Officer Reviews all leave and overtime requests for all Security Officer Directs operations at the scenes of incidents, calls for service and special Assists in creating, revising, and updating policies and procedures of the Assists with vehicle registrations, parking enforcement, and access control. Writes investigative accident, and similar Reviews and distributes incident reports completed by Security Officer. Reviews Daily Run Sheets submitted by Security Officer. Responsible for completing performance evaluations of Security Officer Staff. Coordinates meetings and trainings for the Public Security Officer Staff. Investigates and handles complaints involving Security Officer Staff. Assists in crime prevention programming. Performs safety, patrol, and security duties by motor vehicles or on foot. Coordinates staff efforts in the enforcement of laws and rules, regulations, and policies. Directs and participates in rendering aid at the scene of emergencies. Prepares and maintains statistical and special reports. Assists in training subordinate staff concerning post assignments, traffic control, alarm controls, and communications apparatus. Directs vehicular traffic and enforces parking regulations, issues warnings, summonses, and makes arrests when appropriate. Renders emergency first aid and CPR. Other duties as assigned.
