About the Role
As an Sr. Application Engineer on the Sales Automation Engineering team, you will design and deliver critical features across the CRM technology stack, integrating seamlessly with both internal and external platforms to drive meaningful business outcomes.
This role plays a key part in expanding and enhancing the CRM ecosystem—including Salesforce—by building capabilities that empower Sales and Support teams across customer acquisition, onboarding, and expansion.
The work you do will have a direct and measurable impact on Uber’s user growth, revenue generation, and global expansion efforts.
---- What the Candidate Will Do ----
Drive complex technical projects with significant ownership
Design, implement, and ship reliable and well-tested features to our users while setting high standards for code quality and maintainability.
Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders, solution architects, product managers, and other engineering teams to define project requirements, execution plans, and technical strategy.
Ensure that system designs, including APIs, architecture, and dependency selection, result in scalable, resilient solutions that minimize support costs and enhance the user experience, often solving for complex, ambiguous, or multi-system problems.
Create comprehensive documentation for the solutions, including design specifications, deployment guides, and operational support documentation, championing best practices in documentation.
Mentor junior engineers and actively participate in code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
Drive improvements in agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
---- Basic Qualifications ----
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• 6+ years of hands-on Salesforce application development experience.
• Strong understanding of the Salesforce platform, including its capabilities and constraints.
• Solid grasp of object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience developing in one or more languages such as C#, Java, Go, or Python.
• Hands-on experience with SOAP, REST, and Bulk APIs, including API design, development, and management.
• Practical experience with Apex, Lightning (LWC), and SOQL/SOSL.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, technical teams, and stakeholders to gather requirements and articulate product features, technical designs, and overall strategy.
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
---- Preferred Qualifications ----
MS in Computer Science or related field.
Knowledgeable and an advocate for software engineering best practices throughout the entire software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Salesforce, and hands-on experience with complex, large-scale cloud-based integrations.
Deep understanding of DevOps practices and tools, including designing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines.
Extensive experience working in Agile development environments, with a strong commitment to delivering iterative, high-quality solutions.
Enjoys solving complex, ambiguous business problems through innovative and technology-driven solutions, demonstrating a product-minded approach.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$180,000 per year - USD$200,000 per year.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan.
