Our client, a retail centre in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, is looking for a Security Guard to prevent theft and ensure a safe shopping environment. You will patrol the mall, monitor customer behaviour, apprehend shoplifters according to legal procedures, and assist with emergency evacuations. Retail security experience is preferred. Responsibilities Perform regular checks of security equipment including alarms, cameras, radios, and access control systems to ensure functionality. Control access to buildings and sites by verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining an accurate access register. Write detailed and accurate incident reports describing security events, observations, and actions taken for management review. Conduct regular patrols of the assigned premises on foot or by vehicle, checking for security breaches, hazards, and suspicious activity. Provide excellent customer service to clients, tenants, and visitors while maintaining a firm and professional security presence. Requirements Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods, conduct foot patrols, and respond quickly to incidents. A valid PSIRA registration at the appropriate grade level for the position being applied for. A minimum of one to two years of experience in the security industry with a proven track record of reliability. A clear criminal record is mandatory and subject to regular review as per PSIRA requirements. Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions.
