## About This Opportunity Layton Construction is looking for a Construction Laborer to join our team. This is an entry-level position with real growth potential and opportunities for career progression. We invest heavily in employee development through mentoring programs for new hires and clear pathways to advance within the organization. Beyond the work itself, you'll have chances to participate in community service, join work-sponsored sports teams, mentor other new employees, and take part in company-sponsored activities. ## What You'll Do You'll provide essential support to craft workers on active construction sites across structural construction, heavy concrete work, demolition, and framing projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining clean and safe work areas—sweeping debris, gathering and discarding trash, removing scrap iron and wood, and clearing snow and ice as needed. You'll load and unload materials, identify hazards related to your assigned tasks, and ask questions when you need clarification. When you spot unsafe activities, you'll report them immediately to your supervisor or the Safety team. You should be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and emails, and you should be comfortable writing basic correspondence as well. You'll need to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations and apply your understanding to carrying out simple one- or two-step instructions. Most importantly, you commit to and meet all scheduled attendance and production deadlines, and you can perform your essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely. ## Physical Demands This role involves significant physical activity. You'll exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. You'll climb ladders, scaffolding, and steep slopes with agility, maintain your balance to prevent falling from precarious situations, and lower your body to floor level to move about with agility. You'll extend and retrieve objects outside your immediate range, stand for extended periods, push and pull with considerable force, and lift substantial objects from lower to higher positions or move them horizontally. The work requires precise maneuvering of small objects, gripping with considerable force, and detecting attributes of objects through touch—such as size, shape, temperature, texture, tension, or force. You'll communicate through spoken work and need to perceive sounds with no less than a 40db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz, with or without correction. The role involves substantial repetitive motions and requires good depth perception, field of vision, and near acuity. You'll be frequently exposed to weather conditions, and occasionally face extreme cold, extreme heat, wet or humid conditions, exposure to dust and fumes, and work in high exposed places. ## Benefits Layton offers a comprehensive benefits package subject to applicable eligibility requirements, including Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account, and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match. You'll also receive Life & AD&D Insurance, Long-term Disability Insurance, Short-term Disability Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance, Accident Insurance, and Hospital Indemnity Insurance. Additional benefits include Home & Auto Insurance, Family Support, pre-tax Paid Parking and Public Transportation, paid time off of 2 weeks for non-exempt employees and 3 weeks for exempt employees, Time Away Benefits, 8 paid holidays, Group Legal coverage, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Identity Theft Protection, Pet Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Program. ## About Layton Construction Layton Construction is a privately held national general contractor that has been delivering predictable outcomes in commercial construction since 1953.
