About this role

The Sustainability Analyst will support the Agency’s Sustainability Plan by working on energy efficiency projects, renewable energy initiatives, and improving indoor environments across the housing portfolio. Responsibilities Support the implementation of the Agency’s Sustainability Plan by assisting with projects that reduce energy consumption, lower utility costs, and improve climate resilience across the housing portfolioAssist with energy benchmarking and performance tracking for Agency buildings, including data collection, analysis, quality control, and reporting using Energy Star Portfolio ManagerSupport the development, administration, and monitoring of contracts related to energy efficiency, energy management, and energy performance contracting (EPC), including coordination with vendors, consultants, and internal departmentsLeverage knowledge of building systems and performance (e.g., HVAC, envelope, lighting, controls) to support building decarbonization strategies, energy efficiency upgrades, and renewable energy initiativesAssist with researching, applying for, and administering grants, incentives, and creative financing opportunities that support sustainability, energy efficiency, and decarbonization projectsProvide administrative and technical support for sustainability-related projects requiring legal, regulatory, or procedural approvals, including preparation of documentation, coordination with legal/procurement teams, and tracking project milestonesAnalyze energy, utility, and building performance data to help identify efficiency opportunities, evaluate project impacts, and support decision-making for sustainability initiativesSupport sustainability initiatives that improve resident health and well-being, including projects related to indoor environmental quality, open space activation, and climate resilience, while incorporating community benefits into project planningWork with the Environmental Health and Safety team to address issues related to indoor air quality and moldProvide support for implementing CHA’s Community Garden/ Urban Farm programWork independently and as part of a team to manage and coordinate day-to-day project related activities Skills Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or related field, with a minimum of 1-2 years of sustainability related experienceThis individual must possess excellent communication (written, verbal and interpersonal)Effective problem-solving skills along with excellent organizational and planning experienceLEED Green Associate or LEED AP accreditation, WELL AP, Fitwel Ambassador, Energy Manager in Training/Certified Energy Manager is a plus Benefits Vacation, Sick and Personal, competitive PTO packageMedical (HMO, PPO, and No employee cost High-Deductible PPO)Dental, Vision, and Life InsuranceShort-Term and Long-Term Disability InsuranceLong-Term Care InsurancePet InsuranceParking TransitPrepaid Legal ServicesBrightstar 529 College Savings PlanIdentity Theft ProtectionHospital Indemnity InsuranceVoluntary Critical Illness InsuranceDeferred Compensation Plan: Empower 457/401(a) with a 3% employer matchPension Plan: CHA makes contributions on behalf of the employee, along with the employee's 3% contribution; 100% vesting occurs after 6 years of continuous employment or opt-out of CHA's Retirement Plan and continues to participate in the Municipal Employees Annuity and Benefit Fund of ChicagoHybrid work schedule (position specific)This position may be eligible for remote work following a successful completion of a 90-day probationary period according to CHA’s established policies and procedures.
