Job Overview: The Transport Manager is responsible for managing end-to-end distribution and last-mile delivery operations supporting warehouse customers. This includes vendor sourcing and management, transport procurement, solution design, cost optimization, and full ownership of transport P&L. The role ensures reliable, cost-effective, and scalable delivery networks across regions. Key Responsibilities 1. Transport Operations Management Oversee daily distribution and last-mile delivery operations across all assigned regions Ensure achievement of service levels Monitor and resolve delivery exceptions, delays, and escalations Coordinate closely with warehouse operations for dispatch planning and execution Ensure proper route planning, load optimization, and vehicle utilization 2. Vendor Sourcing & Procurement Identify, onboard, and develop a strong network of transport vendors and partners Lead vendor sourcing, RFQs, and procurement processes Establish competitive rate structures based on lanes, volumes, and service levels Ensure contracting and commercial terms are aligned with business objectives 3. Vendor Management & Development Conduct regular vendor performance evaluations (cost, service, reliability) Drive vendor accreditation and compliance processes Strengthen and expand the vendor pool across regions Build strategic partnerships with key transporters to ensure capacity availability Manage vendor disputes, claims, and performance issues 4. Transport Solution Design Design and implement efficient distribution models and delivery networks Develop customer-specific transport solutions (B2B, D2C, e-commerce, etc.) Support Sales/KAM teams in solutioning, pricing, and proposals 5. P&L Ownership & Cost Management Own and manage transport P&L, including revenue, costs, and margins Track and control transport costs (per trip, per km, per drop, per kg) Drive cost optimization initiatives through negotiation and efficiency improvements Monitor fuel trends, market rates, and adjust pricing strategies accordingly 6. Network Development & Expansion Develop and expand distribution network coverage across key geographies Identify new lanes, hubs, and delivery models to improve reach and efficiency Ensure scalability of transport operations for new customers and growth 7. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure all vendors comply with legal, regulatory, and safety requirements Monitor documentation such as permits, insurance, and driver compliance Ensure adherence to company safety and operational standards 8. Reporting & Performance Tracking Track and report key transport KPIs Provide regular MIS and performance reports to management Support billing validation and ensure 100% accuracy of transport billing 9. Stakeholder Management Work closely with Warehouse Managers, KAMs, and Sales teams Act as escalation point for transport-related customer issues Ensure strong coordination between operations, finance, and procurement teams Key Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of transport operations and last-mile delivery models Expertise in vendor management, negotiation, and procurement Financial acumen with P&L management experience Data-driven decision-making and analytical skills Strong problem-solving and execution capability Stakeholder and customer management skills Experience & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field 6–10+ years of experience in transportation, distribution, or logistics operations Experience in 3PL, e-commerce, or multi-client warehouse environments preferred
